Bellamy Stays with Wales as Burnley Deal Collapses

Craig Bellamy will remain Wales manager after his proposed move to Burnley collapsed. The Championship club had sought to appoint him as successor to Scott Parker, but negotiations stalled over staffing terms. Bellamy, 46, had discussions with Burnley’s hierarchy but a resolution wasn’t reached.

The breakdown reportedly centered on his support team accompanying him to Turf Moor, though compensation for the FAW was not the issue. Bellamy previously coached under Vincent Kompany at Burnley from 2022–2024 and briefly served as interim manager. Wales exited World Cup qualifying after a 2026 tournament loss to Bosnia in a penalty shootout, adding pressure on Bellamy’s tenure. His contract extends to 2028, covering UEFA Euro 2028 qualifications in England, Scotland, Wales, and Ireland.
