Aston Villa have agreed to sign winger Alejandro Garnacho from Chelsea on a loan deal with a conditional obligation to buy. The total package is understood to meet Chelsea's valuation, which Sky Sports News reported as £42.6m. Garnacho joined Chelsea last summer from Manchester United for £40m.

The Argentina international winger had not reported for pre-season training at Chelsea to facilitate the move. This transfer follows the £117m British-record deal for Morgan Rogers, who moved from Aston Villa to Chelsea.

In his first season at Chelsea, Garnacho played 1,217 Premier League minutes across 25 appearances. He registered five goal involvements, averaging one every 243 minutes. This contrasts with Morgan Rogers, who averaged a goal involvement every 90 minutes, and Emiliano Buendia, who averaged one every 190 minutes. Garnacho's playing style, which often sees him hug the touchline, may require tactical adjustments from Aston Villa manager Unai Emery.
