Arsenal has secured the signature of German striker Selina Cerci on a free transfer from Hoffenheim. The 26-year-old forward brings a potent scoring record to the Women's Super League club, having netted 34 goals in 47 appearances for Hoffenheim.

Cerci, who has earned 20 caps for Germany, joins Arsenal on a two-year deal with an option for a further 12 months. She arrives to help fill the void left by Beth Mead's departure to Manchester City. Despite suffering a significant knee injury in 2022, Cerci returned to form, twice finishing second in the Frauen-Bundesliga scoring charts with 16 goals in a season.

Arsenal's director of women's football, Clare Wheatley, praised Cerci's instinctive goalscoring and proven Bundesliga record, expressing confidence in her transition to English football. Manager Renee Slegers highlighted Cerci's goalscoring prowess, presence, physicality, and work ethic as key attributes. Last season, Cerci also contributed nine assists, tying for second-most in the league with then-Bayern Munich player Georgia Stanway.

This signing is significant for Arsenal, who finished second in WSL scoring last season but faltered due to fixture congestion. Cerci represents a prime-age addition entering her peak, aiming to bolster Arsenal's title challenge against Manchester City. Her move marks her first experience outside of Germany and her debut in Champions League football, with her integration period being a factor to watch.
