Beth Mead completes a transfer to Manchester City, signing a contract that runs until the summer of 2029. The move ends a nine‑year spell with Arsenal, where she won a Champions League medal and domestic titles. Mead arrives as a Championship winner and one of the WSL’s top scorers. Her decision follows reduced playing time at Arsenal last season and rumours of a summer exit.

Mead’s record includes 59 WSL goals and a league‑leading 54 assists, putting her alongside Khadija “Bunny” Shaw and Vivianne Miedema in City’s attacking ranks. Director of football Therese Sjögran praised the signing, noting her experience on big stages will bolster a squad that just secured a domestic double. She hopes the side’s high‑pressing style will unlock further creativity.

Manager Andree Jeglertz welcomed the addition, saying Mead offers depth on the wings beside Lauren Hemp, Kerolin and Aoba Fujino. Her arrival coincides with City’s upcoming Champions League campaign, giving Jeglertz a proven international talent to rotate. With the squad already boasting depth, Mead’s signing signals a clear intent to challenge for titles on all fronts.

The signing also positions City to challenge Manchester United and Chelsea in the race for the 2024‑25 WSL title, while providing depth for their inaugural Champions League group stage fixtures.
