Anthony Gordon has completed his move to Barcelona from Newcastle in a deal worth £69m-plus, expressing his excitement after a patient wait. The England forward learned Spanish as a child because he 'believed he would play for Barca,' showing long-term ambition for this transfer.

Gordon spent three-and-a-half years at Newcastle after joining from Everton in January 2023, making 152 appearances and scoring 17 goals this season as the Magpies' top scorer. Despite being Newcastle's leading marksman, head coach Eddie Howe benched him for the final four Premier League matches, though supporters still chanted his name after their season-ending defeat.
