Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson has been ruled out of the Champions League last-16 first leg against Galatasaray due to a training injury. The 33-year-old Brazilian sustained the injury shortly before the team traveled to Turkey for Tuesday's match at RAMS Park. Reds manager Arne Slot confirmed Alisson felt discomfort during the final moments of a training session and was deemed unfit to travel.

Slot told reporters that after consulting with medical staff, the decision was made for Alisson to remain in Liverpool while the squad flew to Istanbul. The goalkeeper's absence is a significant blow to Liverpool's defensive lineup, though Slot expressed optimism about Alisson's availability for the upcoming Premier League fixture against Tottenham at Anfield on Sunday. The Dutch manager indicated the injury is not considered serious.

The injury continues a challenging season for Alisson, who has already missed nine matches through various setbacks. His absence means Georgian goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili is set to make his first appearance since the FA Cup win over Barnsley in January, having featured 11 times across all competitions this season.
