Inter Milan seal domestic double with Coppa Italia win over Lazio

Inter Milan completed their first domestic double in 16 years with a 2-0 victory over Lazio in the Coppa Italia final at Rome's Stadio Olimpico. An Adam Marusic own goal and a Lautaro Martinez strike sealed their 10th Coppa Italia title, wrapping up a remarkable season under first-year manager Cristian Chivu.

Chivu's side had already wrapped up the Serie A title earlier this month with three games to spare, marking their 21st league championship. Martinez scored his 22nd goal of the season, tapping in Marcus Thuram's low cross 10 minutes before half-time. The Romanian coach, who was part of Jose Mourinho's celebrated treble-winning squad in 2010, has now matched that legendary achievement in his debut season at the San Siro.

"Winning the league and cup is never something you can take for granted," Chivu said after the match. "We're very happy." The double represents a remarkable turnaround for Inter, who had not achieved domestic success of this magnitude since Mourinho's historic 2010 campaign that included Champions League glory.
