A woman who says she is a victim in the FBI's fraud case against Daejon Love told ESPN she submitted a complaint about him to the San Francisco 49ers via the team's website in December 2025, eight months before his arrest. Gwen Herndon said she sent a "complaint/concern" form submission to the Niners on Dec. 20, 2025, stating Love was pretending to be a 49ers player and stealing money from women. She received a response from Levi's Stadium guest services on Dec. 27, 27, 2025, acknowledging the report but citing legal restrictions.

Herndon said she had no further contact with the team after that email. A Niners source told ESPN the team had not received any reports about Love before being contacted by the FBI in August. Love and Taylor Chan were arrested Aug. 24, 2026, and charged with wire fraud and conspiracy to commit wire fraud after defrauding more than two dozen women of about $1.3 million.

The FBI said Love used dating apps to falsely portray himself as a wealthy 49ers player or real estate investor. Federal filings show Love was wearing 49ers apparel when arrested in Boise, Idaho, and was actively defrauding victims there. The Portland FBI investigation began Sept. 30, 2024, and representatives from the NFL and 49ers confirmed Love was never employed by either organization.
