The Yankees have bolstered their lineup with the additions of shortstop George Lombard Jr. and outfielder Heliot Ramos. Lombard, a highly touted prospect, was called up from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes Barre and batted eighth, playing shortstop. Lombard, the Yankees' first-round pick in 2023, has had a strong season, batting .312 in Double-A and .268 with six homers in Triple-A, despite a recent finger injury. Manager Aaron Boone praised his performance, noting his continued improvement. Ramos joined the Yankees after batting .264 with nine homers for the Giants and is expected to be the primary left fielder.

In other roster moves, the Yankees promoted Yerry de Los Santos to the bullpen. This shake-up comes as the team looks to improve its performance. Volpe, who struggled offensively and dealt with injuries, will see time at second base in Triple-A, while Dominguez, also returning from injury, will continue his development.
