Tadej Pogacar won a record-equaling fifth Tour de France title Sunday, joining Eddy Merckx, Miguel Indurain, Jacques Anquetil and Bernard Hinault as the only riders with five victories. The 27-year-old Slovenian dominated the race, finishing safely in the final stage on the Champs-Élysées.

Pogacar finished 6 minutes, 26 seconds ahead of Belgian Remco Evenepoel in the overall standings. UAE Team Emirates XRG teammate Isaac Del Toro, a 22-year-old Mexican making his Tour debut, placed third at 9:42 back. Pogacar won five stages this year, bringing his career total to 26.

Dutchman Mathieu van der Poel claimed victory in Sunday's 55-mile stage, which featured three ascents of the Montmartre climb before the finish. The stage was more selective than traditional processional finales, and Pogacar could not match Van der Poel's power in the closing sprint.
