Qualcomm has announced the renewal of its global patent licensing agreement with Apple, effective April 1, 2027. The extension follows a 2019 settlement in which Apple agreed to pay Qualcomm royalties for patent use, with an option exercised in 2024 to extend the term to March 2027. The new agreement ensures continuity of licensing, even as Apple works to reduce reliance on Qualcomm modems.

Qualcomm Executive Vice President and General Manager of Qualcomm Technology Licensing, John Han, stated, "We are pleased to extend the Apple license agreement." The financial terms remain confidential. This renewal maintains Apple’s obligation to pay undisclosed royalties for Qualcomm’s patented technologies, regardless of modem sourcing decisions.
