Twelve years after first launching its payment service in the US, Apple has finally brought Apple Pay to India, although the service is currently limited to select bank cards. Apple Pay is available to users in India across Apple devices, except Mac, although support for macOS is confirmed to be coming soon. The payment service currently supports Visa and Mastercard credit cards issued by Axis Bank.

Users can add their cards to Apple Wallet and use tap-to-pay at thousands of in-store merchants or make online payments. Apple Pay also supports NFC transactions. In an official press release, Apple detailed the privacy features of Apple Pay, noting that the service does not store actual card numbers on the device or its servers, nor does it share them with merchants.
