Apple has ended official hardware support for three Intel MacBook models from 2017 and 2018, leaving owners to turn to third-party repair options. The affected models are the 13-inch 2017 MacBook Pro with two Thunderbolt 3 ports, the 2018 Retina MacBook Air, and the 13-inch 2018 MacBook Pro with four Thunderbolt 3 ports. The 2017 MacBook Pro's most recent compatible OS is macOS Ventura (2022).

The 2018 MacBook Air can only be updated to macOS Sonoma, placing it two releases behind. The 2018 MacBook Pro's newest compatible OS is macOS Sequoia, one release behind macOS Tahoe. Apple classifies devices as "vintage" after five to seven years out of sales and "obsolete" after more than seven years.

Service and parts are available for vintage products up to seven years if parts exist. Owners of obsolete devices must now rely on third-party repair shops, though repairs may not be cost-effective in 2026.
