The Pixel 11 isn't notably different from its predecessor and lacks new camera hardware, but Google added several software features. The standout is Magic Capture, a dedicated camera mode that makes photographing fast-moving subjects effortless. Available on both the standard Pixel 11 and Pro models, Magic Capture starts recording video when you press the shutter, then uses on-device AI to analyze frames and extract the best still as a high-resolution HDR photo.

It genuinely makes a big difference for capturing kids or pets in motion, delivering sharp images without blur. The feature also saves the source video, though not in 4K resolution. All processing happens on-device quickly.

Accessing Magic Capture requires navigating Google's convoluted viewfinder controls: launch Camera, choose Photo, then select the left-most toggle in the bottom row. Despite unchanged camera modules, the Pixel 11 takes better photos thanks to algorithm tweaks and additions like Camera Looks that alter photo aesthetics.
