US Stocks Steady Ahead of PCE Inflation and Micron Earnings

US stocks rose Wednesday after the Fed's PCE inflation gauge came in below expectations, easing rate-hike bets. The S&P 500 gained 0.4%, the Nasdaq 100 rose 0.6%. Core PCE rose 0.2%, consumer spending hit a 14-month high.

Traders now see a 36% chance of an October rate hike, down from coin-toss odds. Wells Fargo's Gary Schlossberg noted consumer resilience. Fifth Third's Bill Adams said inflation is trending down but still above target, keeping October in play.

Catalyst's David Miller called it central to AI buildout constraints. XTB's Kathleen Brooks said the stock is priced for perfection, up 15% in a month and 260% YTD. Cal-Maine Foods slid after missing sales and skipping its dividend.

Moderna fell after Citi downgraded it to sell.
