The North West 200 will move back by a week in 2027, reverting to its previous format with the first qualifying session on Tuesday. This change avoids a clash with the Northern Ireland Assembly election and local council elections, which are scheduled for Thursday, 6 May 2027. Consequently, the event will now feature first qualifying on Tuesday, 11 May, second qualifying and initial races on Thursday, 13 May, and the main race day on Saturday, 15 May.

Roads will close at 09:00 BST on all three days. The schedule includes three races on Thursday evening and the remaining six on Saturday. Organizers hope this return to the familiar Tuesday and Thursday practice schedule will enhance the festival atmosphere around the meeting and the north coast of Northern Ireland. Previously, opening practice was held on Wednesday in 2024, 2025, and 2026 to accommodate riders arriving from the British Superbike meeting at Oulton Park.

North West 200 Event Director Mervyn Whyte noted that teams and competitors were pleased with the change. He stated, "It's less issues, less problems, it's good for them, and it's good for the officials running the event because we now have a day in between." This adjustment provides a longer race week festival.

Additionally, race organizers secured a boost as Briggs Equipment extended their title sponsorship through to the event's centenary. This long-term commitment mirrors the recent BBC broadcast partnership deal until the meeting's landmark anniversary in 2029.
