Max Verstappen has requested Spa 24 Hours organizers to reschedule the 2027 event outside an F1 weekend, citing his desire to compete in the iconic GT3 race. The four-time world champion, unable to race this year due to the clash with the Austrian Grand Prix, revealed he’d participate in Spa if not for the conflict. His Red Bull-backed team, Verstappen Racing, entered a Mercedes-AMG GT3 EVO driven by Juncadella, Lulham, and Gounon, finishing seventh in qualifying.

Verstappen emphasized his emotional connection to the track: “Spa is an amazing track and a 24-hour race with only GT cars is something very special,” he said. This aligns with his broader ambition to race in the Nurburgring 24 Hours and Le Mans, though he joked Red Bull wouldn’t approve of him skipping F1 events to compete elsewhere.
