Verstappen criticises Ferrari radio silence at Dutch GP

Max Verstappen has urged Ferrari to adopt Mercedes-like efficiency after growing frustrated by the team's lack of team orders during the Formula 1 Dutch Grand Prix at Zandvoort. The Red Bull driver finished fourth after a mid-race battle with teammate Sergio Pérez, during which he sought team orders to pass Charles Leclerc but received none. Verstappen sarcastically criticised the delay, contrasting it with Mercedes’ timely swap of Lewis Hamilton and George Russell with George Russell seven laps from the end, which allowed Russell to attack Leclerc with fresher tyres.

He stated he wants to win and finds it difficult when rivals execute orders instantly, while he waits. Verstappen said he would discuss the issue offline with Ferrari. Russell secured third, believing Mercedes lost a double podium by letting him pass, though he held firm under pressure from Leclerc, aided by a virtual safety car.

The result leaves Verstappen tied with Pérez in second, 59 points behind championship leader Leclerc with 11 rounds remaining. Verstappen hopes to add to his Zandvoort victory but insists Ferrari must close its engine power deficit to Mercedes despite recent chassis upgrades.
