Paul Monaghan is set to leave Red Bull for Cadillac's Formula 1 venture, with the move effectively confirmed but no formal resignation submitted yet. The chief engineer of car engineering continues his duties in the Red Bull garage this weekend despite the imminent switch. Monaghan joined the team in 2005 and became one of its most influential technical figures during the Christian Horner era.

His F1 career began at McLaren in 1990, working with Ayrton Senna and later Fernando Alonso at Benetton. After spells at Jordan, he joined Red Bull and played a major role in delivering 14 world championships to the organization. Replacing someone with Monaghan's experience and championship pedigree will prove challenging for Red Bull as they work to maintain competitiveness.

For Red Bull, this represents another significant loss after Christian Horner and Adrian Newey departures. The team is restructuring its technical organization while Max Verstappen faces uncertainty about his future. Losing Monaghan compounds the stability issues during a critical rebuild phase.

Cadillac has built its organization by recruiting extensively from UK-based F1 teams, particularly mechanics and trackside staff. The American outfit's aggressive hiring strategy continues as they prepare for their F1 debut, targeting experienced personnel who can deliver immediate results.
