Mercedes becomes sole F1 safety car supplier

Mercedes-Benz will be the sole supplier of the Formula 1 safety and medical cars starting in 2026. Aston Martin has decided not to renew its partnership, ending a shared arrangement that began in 2021. Under that deal, Mercedes provided the AMG GT Black Series while Aston Martin supplied the Vantage F1 edition as official course cars.

The split shifts F1's safety car lineup entirely to Mercedes-AMG, which has supplied the medical car since 2000. This move consolidates the sport's primary emergency vehicles under one manufacturer, simplifying logistics and branding for the FIA and race organizers. It also ends Aston Martin's high-profile, trackside presence during Grands Prix.

With the current agreement expiring, Mercedes will now engineer and supply both the safety car and medical car for the entire grid. Teams and fans will watch how this single-supplier model impacts response protocols and vehicle performance during race weekends. The transition marks a significant change to the visual and operational fabric of F1 Sundays.
