The FIA stewards have summoned Lewis Hamilton over an incident with McLaren's Oscar Piastri in Q3 at the Hungarian Grand Prix. Piastri, fifth after his first run, failed to improve when he found a slow Hamilton on the racing line at Turn 1 (Piquet Corner). "Fuck me, man," Piastri radioed, gesturing at the Ferrari driver approaching Turn 2 (Hamilton Corner).

Hamilton's engineer Carlo Santi warned "Piastri pushing" as Hamilton finished his lap, but a yellow flag for Max Verstappen's spin at Turn 14 (Szisz Corner) distracted them. Hamilton asked, "Was Piastri on a lap, or…?" Santi admitted being "caught by the yellow flag." Piastri called it "pretty bad," noting he watched Hamilton from the start line expecting him to move.

Hamilton claimed he didn't expect rivals to start final attempts after he finished, thinking everyone was behind him. Pole went to Lando Norris by 0.012s over Hamilton. A potential three-place penalty would drop Hamilton to fifth — ironically the cleaner side of the grid. Hamilton felt the early pit exit call cost him grip.
