Haas team principal Ayao Komatsu states the American outfit is "fighting with both hands tied" against wealthier Formula 1 competitors due to funding limitations. Komatsu emphasized the critical need to secure more financial resources to operate closer to the $215 million budget cap for 2026. This cap excludes driver and top earner salaries, as well as marketing costs.

Komatsu highlighted that Haas's approximate 400 employees are at a disadvantage compared to teams with over 1,000 staff. He clarified that the team's struggles in development aren't a reflection of their personnel's capability, which he praised highly, but rather a consequence of insufficient resources. "I'm not, so far, able to give them enough ammunition for our guys to show what they're capable of," he admitted.

Despite a strong start to the season, including impressive results from Oliver Bearman, Haas has been outpaced in the development race. Komatsu is actively working on improving the team's revenue and environment, aiming to provide the team with the resources they deserve to fully demonstrate their potential. He acknowledged the team's resilience and problem-solving approach during performance dips.
