Ford plans to launch its first Hypercar in the World Endurance Championship next year, sparking interest from its F1 partner’s star driver. The company’s racing chief Mark Rushbrook said the brand would love to see Max Verstappen take the wheel of an LMDh prototype. Verstappen already shows a keen appetite for endurance racing indeed.

Ford’s return to Formula 1 came through a partnership with Red Bull Racing. While the Mustang GT3 competes in LMGT3 this season, Ford will enter the top class from 2027 with an LMDh car. Verstappen’s participation in the Nürburgring 24‑Hours already signals his crossover ambitions. This move positions Ford alongside elite endurance programs and could attract new sponsors in the long term.

Rushbrook confirmed no concrete plans exist yet; Verstappen’s contract with Red Bull until 2028 locks his schedule, making Le Mans appearances unlikely for the foreseeable future. Nevertheless, the team remains in regular dialogue, noting his detailed feedback could boost development. Should a Hypercar outing materialise, it would offer Ford a high‑profile driver and a potent marketing platform providing a narrative for motorsport fans worldwide today exclusively.
