While F1 claims its fanbase has responded positively, with a rise in ratings for races, drivers like Max Verstappen have voiced strong concerns, calling the cars "Formula E on steroids." Drivers, particularly at energy-limited tracks, found the cars difficult to manage, and some noted issues with the power units' self-learning algorithms.

Domenicali stated that F1 is not trying to silence critics, emphasizing that "the beauty of our sport is that everyone can have an opinion." He acknowledged the drivers' concerns but stressed the necessity of the changes, driven by the automotive industry's shift towards electrification. "Otherwise, we would be here to talk about our sport, another sport," he explained.

The CEO prefers constructive discussions behind closed doors, having recently spoken with Verstappen. He believes that negativity should not overshadow the sport itself. Domenicali reiterated his respect for the drivers but highlighted his responsibility to consider the broader picture and the best interests of F1 as a whole, including commercial aspects and fan priorities, ensuring the sport's continued growth.
