Alex Albon will remain at Williams for a sixth consecutive Formula 1 season in 2027 after agreeing to a one-year contract extension. The 30-year-old joined Williams ahead of the 2022 season and has been a key figure in the team's ongoing rebuild. Despite speculation over his future and that of team-mate Carlos Sainz, Albon has committed his immediate future to the Grove-based squad.

"Since joining Atlassian Williams F1 Team in 2022, the transformation this team has made is difficult to put into words," Albon said. "One tough year doesn't tell the full picture, and it only gives me more motivation to keep building and pushing together with the factory and our fans to achieve great things. Our story is not over yet."

Team principal James Vowles expressed his delight at Albon's decision, describing the driver as a leader of the transformation project. "Alex has been a leader of this transformation project since day one and we have plenty of unfinished business that we are determined to achieve," Vowles said. Williams endured a difficult 2026 campaign, finishing ninth in the constructors' championship after a promising fifth place the previous year.

Earlier this year, Albon became Williams' most tenured driver, surpassing Nigel Mansell's record in Spain before reaching his 100th appearance for the team at the Hungarian Grand Prix.
