Benchmark's five partners maintain their deliberate investment pace despite market frenzy. The firm announced $2 billion across two funds this summer, marking only the second time in its 31-year history it has veered from raising a smaller vehicle. While rivals accelerate, Benchmark sticks to just two or three new bets per year per partner.

Their Monday partner meetings remain purposeless, with no agenda. Partners Peter Fenton and Ev Randall discussed the firm's evolution, including a bigger core fund now at $500 million (inflated from 20 years) and a new $1.25 billion growth fund. Fenton aims for a concentrated portfolio where one or two investments generate 90% of returns.

Randall emphasizes Benchmark's small partnership structure allows higher throughput and fidelity, drawing talent from Founders Fund, Bond and Kleiner Perkins. The partners convey a close-knit team unperturbed by economic warning signs, viewing many as X-fueled hysteria.
