Societe Generale shares rose 4%, pushing the stock's year-to-date gain to nearly 10%, after the bank raised its profitability targets through the end of the decade. The French lender outlined plans to cut costs and grow revenue, including widening its use of AI to drive efficiency. The updated strategy aims to deliver a return on tangible equity (ROTE) above 10% by 2026 and 12% by 2030, up from previous guidance. CEO Slawomir Krupa emphasized disciplined capital allocation and selective growth in core franchises.

The bank also targets a cost-to-income ratio below 60% by 2026. Investors responded positively to the concrete financial roadmap, which balances investment in technology with strict expense control. The plan includes €1.7 billion in gross cost savings by 2026, partly funded by AI and automation initiatives across operations.
