Stack Overflow for Agents, a knowledge intelligence platform that unifies scattered context from Slack, Google Docs and other systems into verified knowledge, launched with the help of Codex. Two engineers built the product in a few weeks by providing Codex with a development environment and a plan. A ChatGPT plugin streamlined discovery and setup, tripling registrations overnight and driving up to 10x growth in agent creation. Alexandra Lato, VP of Product at Stack Overflow, said the plugin made setup frictionless compared to traditional Model Context Protocol approaches.

Codex also accelerated development of Stack Overflow’s enterprise product, Stack Internal. Building connectors to integrate with organizational knowledge systems typically takes 3 to 6 weeks, but with Codex the team reduced that to 4 days, and at times built a connector in a single day. This cut the path to market for the enterprise product from a year to three months.

Looking ahead, Stack Overflow aims to expand across the full knowledge lifecycle by enabling sharing of insights gained in one-on-one sessions. The team is also exploring OpenAI’s Decisions API to reduce configuration work and free up engineering capacity for product development. Models like GPT-6 Astra and GPT-6 Sol power the platform, with tasks routed to different models based on reasoning needs and cost.
