Our 2026 Innovators Under 35 list recognizes 35 young global scientists and engineers making groundbreaking discoveries. After reviewing 550 nominations, MIT Technology Review selected individuals across four categories: biotechnology, artificial intelligence, computing and robotics, and climate and energy. The process involved 44 semifinalists completing applications, gathering references and video submissions before 40 expert judges evaluated their progress toward solving major challenges. "These Innovators represent some of the best aspects of science and technology research—pushing forward bold ideas to improve the future," said Costa Samaras, a 2026 judge and director of Carnegie Mellon's Scott Institute for Energy Innovation.

The list launches September 8, 2026, continuing a decades-long tradition of spotting rising talent. Previous honorees like Lisa Su (featured in 2002) and Daniel Ek (featured in 2012) went on to shape the tech industry. Subscribers can browse past winners and see all current nominees.
