The UK government has released a new Fuel Finder API allowing real-time access to fuel prices and forecourt data. Developed by the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero, the service provides updated pricing within 30 minutes of changes.

Developers can integrate this data into apps and websites using RESTful principles with OAuth 2.0 authentication. The API supports JSON responses and includes details like site amenities, brand, and opening hours across participating stations.

This move enables comparison sites, navigation apps, and fleet management tools to offer better cost-saving features. It reflects broader trends toward government transparency and open data initiatives that empower third-party innovation around public datasets.

Organizations must have a GOV.UK One Login and technical capability to consume REST APIs. Data is also available via email subscription or static CSV download updated twice daily for less frequent use cases.
