The ridesharing giant now enforces a $1,500 monthly cap per employee for AI coding tools like Anthropic's Claude Code or Cursor. The budget overrun occurred after Uber aggressively promoted AI adoption, encouraging staff to use AI "as much as possible" and even ranking usage on internal leaderboards.
