Astronomers have identified a third galaxy, NGC 1052-DF9, entirely devoid of dark matter, reinforcing the Bullet Dwarf collision theory. This ultra-diffuse galaxy, part of a linear trail with NGC 1052-DF2 and DF4, suggests galaxies can form without dark matter’s gravitational glue. The discovery, detailed in a Yale-led pre-print paper, challenges Modified Newtonian Dynamics (MOND) by demonstrating dark matter’s physical separability from visible matter. NGC 1052-DF9’s kinematics align with predictions of high-speed galaxy collisions where dark matter halos pass through intact while normal matter collides violently.
