TechEmpower Framework Benchmarks Shutting Down After 10+ Years

After more than a decade of benchmarking web frameworks, TechEmpower is sunsetting its Framework Benchmarks project. What began in 2013 as an experiment has become an industry reference point, covering hundreds of frameworks across dozens of languages including Go, Java, Ruby, PHP, C#, and Python.

This wasn't just about charts - the benchmarks thrived because of community contributions. Developers debated designs, contributed new frameworks, chased down flaky runs, and shared micro-optimizations. Companies donated infrastructure while maintainers spent weekends keeping implementations current. The project saw more than 20 rounds of results and thousands of pull requests.

The repository and past results remain as a snapshot of a community that cared deeply about performance measurement. TechEmpower hopes the spirit of curiosity, skepticism, and knowledge sharing continues in how developers approach benchmarking. From everyone at TechEmpower: thank you for the code, the spirited arguments, and for treating this as something worth building together.
