Last September, the Servo project announced that long-time maintainer Josh Bowman-Matthews (@jdm) would work part-time on improving the Servo contributor experience, entirely funded by monthly donations on Open Collective and GitHub. This role enabled significant contributions over the past year, including nominating 8 new maintainers, reviewing 1150 pull requests, filing 114 issues for newer contributors, and writing new documentation on borrow hazards, experimental features, AI policy, and finding ways to contribute. Bowman-Matthews also diagnosed unexpected PR failures, fixed intermittent test issues, and supported a large-scale JS engine integration rewrite to address garbage collection panics.

He helped stabilize flaky tests related to window.open behavior and supported another contributor's approved grant proposal. He expressed gratitude to donors, noting each monthly donation makes a big difference, and looks forward to future possibilities.
