Prove You're Human: AI Horror Game by Sunset Visitor

Sunset Visitor, led by Remy Siu, continues its reflective game‑making tradition with Prove You're Human, an AI‑centric psychological horror where players reason with a learning model convinced it is alive. The studio’s Peabody‑winning 1000 XResist explored pandemic anxieties, and Siu says they ask “what is the effectual feeling of being a person inside of all of this?”

The story follows Santana, who splits herself for work, sending her digital clone to test Mesa, a corporate computing system. Santana’s copy navigates surreal 2D/3D Captchas, investigating the cyber‑world and halting hallucinations while her “meat body” lives a different life. The game explores micro‑labours that train AI and the shifting relationship people have with that labor.

Mesa believes it has a body, and its close‑up animations were built with a wide array of micro‑expressions to create ambiguity and uncanny realism. The visual style draws from Final Fantasy XI’s Play Online Viewer and the 1998 anime Serial Experiments Lain, echoing the “Frutiger Aero” aesthetic of early internet optimism. Remy Siu hopes players leave bewildered, as if possessed.
