Omnara Launches Mobile IDE for Claude Code, Runs Agents Anywhere

Omnara, a Y Combinator S25 startup, has launched a web and mobile IDE that lets developers run Claude Code and Codex sessions from anywhere. The platform addresses a common frustration: coding agents stalling when developers step away from their desks. Omnara runs agents locally on users' machines while exposing sessions through a mobile interface, enabling seamless continuation of work on the go.

Unlike remote solutions like Codex Web or Devin that run in VMs, Omnara keeps agents in users' own environments through a headless daemon that maintains outbound WebSocket connections. The system includes a novel cloud sync feature that commits code at each conversation turn and pushes it to servers, allowing sessions to resume in hosted sandboxes when local machines go offline. Omnara is free for 10 sessions monthly, then $20/month for unlimited access.

The team discovered unexpected value in their voice agent feature, initially added as a fallback. Users found talking through coding problems more effective than typing, as verbal communication naturally encourages more explicit detail. Omnara's approach preserves the flexibility of CLI tools while adding GUI ergonomics, particularly for mobile use. The platform works with existing Claude or Codex subscriptions, avoiding additional token costs.
