LinkedIn Profile Views May Be Free Under GDPR, Noyb Says

LinkedIn’s premium feature that shows who viewed a profile has sparked a legal debate after a free user demanded a copy of the data under GDPR Article 15. The request was denied by LinkedIn, sparking a challenge from EU privacy group Noyb.

Noyb argues that the right of access applies even to data only shown to paying customers. The group points out that LinkedIn’s refusal to provide the list to a free user conflicts with Article 15, which requires providers to disclose any processed personal data.

If the case succeeds, it could set a precedent that forces companies to offer raw data to users regardless of subscription status. The dispute highlights how monetized data services may clash with privacy regulations, forcing platforms to rethink how they package and sell user data.
