Swiss food giant Nestlé confirmed the theft of 413,793 KitKat bars en route from Italy to Poland, marking a significant cargo loss. The company stated the vehicle and load remain missing after the theft last week while transporting the chocolate bars to European distribution points. 413,793 bars represent approximately 12 tons of product, with the company warning the stolen goods could enter unofficial markets across the continent. To combat this, Nestlé implemented a tracking system using unique batch codes on each bar, enabling consumers and retailers to scan codes and report stolen items via a dedicated portal. KitKat emphasized this incident underscores growing cargo theft challenges for businesses, stating they went public to raise awareness of increasingly sophisticated criminal tactics.
