InsForge is an open-source backend platform built for AI coding agents, giving them a unified way to handle databases, auth, storage, compute, and hosting. Created by Hang, a cofounder of the YC-backed project, InsForge emerged from frustration with fragmented MCP tool integrations that loaded tools unnecessarily into context and returned bloated payloads.

The team pivoted to a CLI plus Skills architecture where agents invoke terminal commands directly. Features include backend branching inspired by Neon, a dedicated debug agent that diagnoses deployment failures, server telemetry for self-rooting issues, and a daily backend advisor scanning for security and performance problems.

InsForge runs locally via Docker Compose or through the cloud at insforge.dev. The Apache 2.0-licensed project aims to eliminate the manual dashboard hopping that developers currently endure when working with agentic coding tools.
