Yesterday, I received an email response to You Can't Vibe Code Love. It's remarkable enough I asked permission to share it. The writer, a former Air Force engineer deployed to Zamboanga Philippines during the 2013 siege, describes how Stack Overflow strangers helped him when he needed guidance.

He was simultaneously in the military and taking college courses remotely while civilians were killed and 120,000 displaced. He needed someone to 'nudge me in the right direction' - LLMs would have provided answers but not the human connection. When Stack Overflow communities hollow out, replaced by AI giving answers without caring, he gets depressed.

We're losing something that was always there but unnoticed. LLMs remind us to cultivate relationships and form communities online - communities we belong to, not billionaires' platforms. Communities where we regularly stop to help each other, because that's how we learn too.
