Google is introducing a new sign-in method called "selfie for sign-in," allowing users to access their accounts using a short video selfie. This feature provides an additional option for users who might be locked out or lack access to their usual devices.

To set up, users record a brief video, looking at their device's camera and completing guided head movements. When needing to sign in, they record another selfie, which Google compares to the saved video for verification. The system employs multiple security layers, including matching the video against the saved one and requiring live movement, to prevent impersonation and deepfakes.

Google emphasizes that selfie videos are securely stored with user consent and can be deleted at any time, used solely for sign-in unless users opt otherwise.
