Youృష్ట can now install an official Google Chrome build on ARM64 Linux devices, including the Raspberry Pi 5. Back in March, Google promised Chrome for ARM64 Linux in “Q2 2026,” but the wait has ended as ARM64 builds appear in Google’s official Debian and RPM repositories. When the Chrome download page offered an AMD64 installer, simply replacing “amd64” with “arm64” in the URL yielded a native ARM64 executable that installed cleanly via apt. The deb package also adds Google’s repo, so future updates arrive automatically.

Chrome brings features that vanilla Chromium lacks: Google account sync pulls in extensions, bookmarks, passwords, and settings, while Widevine DRM is bundled in a native ARM64 module at /opt/google/chrome/Widevine Cdm/_platform_specific/linux_arm64/. Although hardware‑backed TEE chains are missing, limiting 4K HDR on some services, the native build still delivers smooth 1080p and even 2K YouTube playback on the Pi.

The release works on Ubuntu 26.04 LTS, and while the RPM build is untested,_cb users on Fedora report success. Devices from the Pine Book Pro to Snapdragon laptops can now run Chrome, offering a consistent browsing experience across ARM‑powered systems.
