Flipper One opens Linux cyberdeck to community contributions

The team behind Flipper Zero unveiled Flipper One, a Linux‑based cyberdeck built from the ground up. Unlike its predecessor, the device targets networking and high‑performance computing, offering two Gigabit Ethernet ports, 5 Gbps USB Ethernet, Wi‑Fi 6E and optional 5G via an M.2 modem. Its modular design supports PCIe, USB 3.0 and SATA add‑ons such as SDRs or fast SSDs. It also works as a portable VPN gateway.

The project’s core promise is a fully open ARM platform with Rockchip RK3576 mainline Linux support and zero binary blobs. Partnering with Collabora, the team has pushed the SoC into kernel.org, leaving only a DDR‑trainer blob in the boot chain. Contributors are asked to help close remaining gaps in power management, USB‑DP Alt‑mode and NPU drivers and improve thermal handling.

To accelerate development, the team launched a public wiki called the Flipper One Developer Portal, publishing task trackers, design debates and half‑finished documentation. Sub‑projects span hardware, mechanics, Linux software, MCU firmware, UI and testing, each inviting code or non‑code contributions. The open process aims to produce the most documented ARM computer and reshape how hobbyists build network‑centric tools for education and community growth.
