The FAA issued a nationwide security notice creating drone no-fly zones around Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) operations. The rule prohibits unmanned aircraft within 3,000 feet laterally and 1,000 feet vertically of DHS facilities and mobile assets, including vehicle convoys.

Unlike temporary restrictions, this NOTAM moves with DHS assets, creating dynamic exclusion zones. Drone operators could unknowingly violate airspace if an ICE convoy passes nearby. The FAA cites national defense authority, with violators facing criminal prosecution or drone destruction.

Civil liberties groups warn this creates invisible, moving restrictions impossible to track. The notice replaces a previous version, explicitly covering mobile operations. Operators must coordinate with DHS for exceptions, but public tracking of ICE movements remains unavailable, raising enforcement questions.
