Duck Labs will join Amazon Web Services (AWS) effective early September, with the team remaining in Amsterdam to continue developing Duck DB, Duck Lake, and Quack. The move provides resources to bring the technology to more developers while maintaining the core projects as free and open source under the MIT license, stewarded by the nonprofit Duck DB Foundation. Founded over five years ago as a bootstrapped company fully owned by its founders and development team, Duck Labs grew from a small group into a team of more than 30 people in Amsterdam.

The founders decided to join AWS because the existing model could not support Duck DB's growth, which now sees over one million daily downloads. AWS's infrastructure, scale, and customer reach will help power a new generation of data services, allowing the team to focus on technical work while reaching a broader user base. This partnership aims to expand the Duck Stack's impact across industries, serving developers who depend on the technology daily, whether directly or embedded within other products.

The open-source foundations and community focus will remain central to the project's mission.
