Driggsby: Financial Monitoring with Claude Code

A developer created Driggsby, an MCP server that automates financial monitoring after his initial Codex CLI solution proved unreliable. His daily cron job to track bank, credit card, and investment accounts frequently broke due to browser quirks, 2FA prompts, or inconsistent AI behavior. Two months of Rust development and a Plaid contract later, he built a more stable solution.

Driggsby connects to financial accounts via Plaid and exposes tools through MCP for balances, transactions, investments, and loans. With Claude Code routines, the creator set up automated monitoring with simple prompts. He created a daily email system, anomaly detection for credit card transactions, and checking account monitoring, though he had to add a custom email tool since Gmail's MCP connector only creates drafts.

The system enables users to create custom financial automations with minimal effort. The creator's CPA wife now runs her own automations, pulling live data from Driggsby. The simplicity of Claude Code routines allows for iterative improvements without code changes, just prompt tweaks.
