Cutting Coffee Boosts Sleep

I’ve cut my coffee intake to a single cup a day for about a week, and the change has dramatically improved my sleep, mood, and energy. I feel tired at night, fall asleep quickly, and wake up refreshed.

Previously I’d drink 4–5 large cups a day. Caffeine’s half‑life is three‑to‑six hours, so I’d wake up with a cup still in my blood. On my first coffee‑free day I felt the most tired I’ve ever felt—naptime, headaches, and a nine and a half‑hour sleep.

I then started each day with one cup, followed by a caffeine‑free period. The result? I routinely get seven to eight hours of solid sleep and feel noticeably more refreshed all day. My head stays clear, my mood stabilizes, and I experience effortless lightness.

At night I get tired, so I go to bed immediately, fall asleep instantly, and repeat. My old cycle—drinking coffee because I was tired, and being tired because of coffee—has broken. Cutting coffee, even from nearly two liters per day, can significantly improve sleep quality.
