BYD rolled out its flagship Seal 08 at the Beijing Auto Show, the first full‑size sedan to pair the Blade Battery 2.0 with an 800‑volt platform. The model promises over 1,000 km CLTC range and a 5‑minute charge that adds 400 km.

The battery, built on lithium‑iron‑phosphate chemistry, can lift a 10% charge to 70% in five minutes and reach 97% from 20% in 12 minutes, even at –30°C. BYD’s flash‑charging network already serves the Yuan Plus and Song Ultra EV, positioning the company at the center of China’s ultra‑fast charging race.

Performance follows suit: the dual‑motor AWD version delivers 684 hp (510 kW) and a top speed of 240 km/h, while RWD trims hit 255 kW and 320 kW. The 5,150‑mm sedan weighs 2,040 kg and features rear‑wheel steering and a dual‑chamber air suspension.

At an expected price of RMB 300,000‑350,000 ($42‑49 k), the Seal 08 could undercut European rivals like the Mercedes‑EQS while offering comparable range and power, thanks to BYD’s scale and vertical integration.
