Bike Bureau: Report Bike Lane Obstructions

Hacker News •
×

When a car blocks a bike lane, you can shout, honk a Loud Mini, or lecture. Now you can report it with Bike Bureau. Honking might move the driver but doesn't solve infrastructure problems.

We built a way to leave a record for advocates.\n\nTo report, open Bike Bureau on your phone and point your camera—it locks onto the vehicle, captures photo, reads plate, adds location, and prepares report in about three seconds. Alternatively, upload a photo from your computer. Privacy is built in: image processing happens on your device, blurring faces and non-offending plates before upload.

The public sees only the obstruction, not people.\n\nEvery report becomes a point on a public map; anonymized data is free for communities, advocates, and researchers. Bike Bureau accepts reports worldwide. Signed-in users get reports auto-filed to city officials in Boston MA, Minneapolis MN, Oakland CA, Las Vegas NV, and many others.

Your reports help make streets safer.
