Bankman-Fried Files Trump Pardon

Sam Bankman-Fried, the FTX co-founder, has formally requested a pardon from President Trump while serving his 25-year prison sentence for fraud and money laundering convictions. The application appears on the Justice Department's Pardon Attorney Office website, with Bloomberg News first reporting the development.

Trump's second term has seen him pardon hundreds of individuals, with NBC News reporting that over half of individual pardons went to those convicted of white-collar crimes like money laundering, bank fraud, and wire fraud. This pattern aligns with Bankman-Fried's charges.

Most notably, very few of the individuals Trump has pardoned submitted formal pardon applications through the Justice Department. The fact that Bankman-Fried followed the official process differs from many other recipients who were pardoned after significant political donations.
